COP30 Kicks Off Another Lost Decade of Climate Theater
Last Saturday, representatives from over 190 countries reached yet another new climate deal at the COP30 summit in Brazil. As part of the deal, CNN reported:
“Wealthier countries agreed to work toward tripling the money available to help climate-vulnerable countries adapt to the ravages of global warming — a potential goal of $120 billion a year by 2035, to come out of the $300 billion pot of funding they agreed to at last year’s COP.”
Additionally, over 80 countries embraced a “roadmap” to move off fossil fuels, as well as plan for a “just transition” to support workers in related industries to move into cleaner jobs. Good luck with that.
